Wine In A Box–Bota Box Nighthawk Black

Wait.  Where is my wine?

Oh, it’s this box!  Bota Box to be specific.

This particular box of wine had gotten some buzz in my store.  A birthday party was a great chance to try it.

On the website, “Rooted in the spirit of adventure, Bota Box heads outdoors and into the twilight with the Nighthawk Black package.”  Which allowed for these adorable icons on the package.  They had me at owl.

Bota Box boasts eco-friendly packaging, using unbleached, post-consumer fiber.  It is printed with VOC-free inks and is 100% recyclable. Even the bag inside is BPA-free.

This Nighthawk red blend is made by combining California Zinfandel, Syrah and Petite Sirah.

Pure garnet color flows from the box and into the glass.

Aromas are full of fruits with blackberry and raspberry, vanilla and a hint of baking spice.

The palate is medium-bodied and oozing with juicy dark fruits.  Dark cherries and plums lead the way with raspberries, cinnamon and a little spicy zing.  There is just the slightest hint of tannin on the finish in this palate-caressing, easy-drinking wine.

The wine’s pleasing demeanor made it a great choice for a party, appealing to everyone who drank it.

We did not head outdoors into the twilight but rather stayed indoors and drank glassfuls along with birthday cake.

The chocolate birthday cake was truly an adventurous pairing which was delightful as the ripe fruits complemented the dark chocolate richness of the cake and frosting.

I did not hear any owls, but I imagine there may have been one perched on the peak of the garden shed watching our celebration.

Pouring at parties!;
Pairing with the outdoors, or, chocolate birthday cake;

A wine drinker who enjoys fruit-forward red blends.
