Estancia Sauvignon Blanc with a Perfect Summer Day
In the dead of winter,
it’s a day just like Sunday that I try to recall. I try to remember the sun in the bright blue sky and the cooling breeze. I try to recall the summer flowers bobbing in the breeze or the smell of wood smoke drifting from the smoker.
I try to remember the sound of kids’ shouts on the nearby playground, or the lazy droning of the cicadas.
Sunday was a snapshot of all that I love about Summer.
I wanted a wine that was refreshing and full of flavor, but not complicated. Just a cooling sip in the shade shared with family, with nothing to do but wiggle our toes in the cool grass and wait for the ribs to finish. I pulled the Estancia Sauvignon Blanc 2013 from the refrigerator.
It is sourced from Monterey County in California’s Central Coast. The winemaker uses 100% Sauvignon Blanc grapes and the 100% tank fermentation results in just the kind of refreshing sip I was seeking.
The Sauvignon Blanc is a pale straw color with aromas of grapefruit and melon. Ripe fruits follow on the front palate with sweet melon, peach and pear. Crisp grapefruit follows and the melon and peach mingle along. The finish is crisp, clean citrus.
Estancia ‘s Sauvignon Blanc is full of juicy fruits that are balanced with bright, clean citrus notes.
Sunday was summer perfection defined! The Estancia Sauvignon Blanc was a refreshing sip on that perfect summer day.
